Lighting a votive candle is a long-standing Catholic tradition — a visible sign of prayer, hope, and trust in God.
When you light a candle at the Padre Pio Foundation of America, your prayer intention is placed on the altar in our Blessed Mother of the Holy Innocents Chapel, where a candle is hand-lit on your behalf and your intention is remembered in daily prayer.
Each candle represents a prayer offered to God through the intercession of Padre Pio. Whether you are praying for healing, guidance, gratitude, or a loved one in need, lighting a candle allows you to entrust your intention with faith and reverence.
Your candle burns as a sign that your prayer is not forgotten. It becomes part of a sacred space where prayers are lifted up daily, united with others who turn to Padre Pio for comfort, strength, and hope.
We are open Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM (EST) and the First Saturday of each month from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM unless it coincides with a national holiday.
