As Lent begins, we are invited to step more quietly into the mystery of Christ’s love — a love revealed most fully through sacrifice, suffering, and the Cross. This sacred season calls us to slow down, to return to prayer, and to open our hearts more fully to God’s mercy and grace.
For Padre Pio, Lent was not simply a season, but a way of life. Bearing the wounds of Christ for fifty years, he lived in profound union with Jesus in His suffering. Padre Pio understood that when suffering is united with the Cross, it becomes a path to deeper trust, humility, and love of God.
Padre Pio once said, “Beneath the Cross, one learns to love.” These simple words reflect the heart of Padre Pio’s spirituality and the invitation of Lent itself — to allow even our trials to draw us closer to Christ and to shape us in love.
As we journey through these holy days, the Padre Pio Foundation of America invites you to walk with us in prayer. Throughout Lent, all who visit this page, and their loved ones, are held in our daily prayers and will be remembered in a special Easter Octave of Masses. Together, may this season draw us closer to the Heart of Jesus and fill our lives with quiet blessings, gentle grace, and renewed hope.
