Your Giving Tuesday Mission: The Karson Project
This year our Giving Tuesday mission will be to install much needed air conditioning in the Children’s Oncology Unit in Padre Pio’s hospital, La Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza.
We would love to give a breakdown of what $10 or $25 dollars can do as is a standard practice by many, but this is a collective request to all of our generous benefactors. This is a project that needs to be funded together. If everyone helps a little, we can do a lot! Just imagine these children who have cancer having to be so hot and sweaty while getting their treatments? As one of the oncologists told us, “Total air conditioning of the department would improve the well-being of our little patients.”
We are calling this “The Karson Project” because as we were preparing our Giving Tuesday emails to you, we received the heartbreaking news that our dear 11 year old friend, Karson, passed away from cancer. He fought so hard. His best friends were his dad and Padre Pio. He loved Padre Pio and kept the blanket with the image of Padre Pio wrapped around him all the time.
Karson wanted to be a regular kid and he fought but this terrible disease took him too early from everyone who loved and adored him, his family and his friends. Our goal is to put air conditioning in the Children’s Oncology Unit and possibly help with other renovations requested by the doctors. They know best what their littlest patients need.
100% of your gift will go to La Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza. Please consider donating to help kids like Karson. 💙
