Help Us Bring the Franciscan Sisters of Alleghany Home
“Charity is the measure by which Our Lord judges all things.” – Padre Pio
The Hurricane May Have Taken Their Roof, But It Didn't Take Their Spirit...
When Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica, the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany lost nearly everything. The storm tore the roof off their convent, collapsed ceilings, shattered windows, and left their home unlivable. More than a month later, they still have no electricity, no safe living quarters, and nowhere to sleep except the floor of their clinic.
And yet one room remained untouched: their chapel — the only dry and protected space left, and the place where they now pray for the friends who will help them rebuild.
These Sisters continue caring for the poor, the sick, and local families seeing up to 60 patients a day at their clinic. They do this while they themselves are without a home, and they cannot return until the convent is rebuilt and made safe.
This Giving Tuesday, we are asking for your help to restore their roof. 100% of your gift will go directly to the Sisters.
Once the roof is rebuilt, the Sisters can begin repairing the damaged rooms beneath it and safeguarding the chapel that miraculously survived the storm.
Your generosity becomes a true work of mercy in Padre Pio’s name — restoring shelter, preserving a sacred place of prayer, and offering hope to Sisters who have nowhere else to turn.
Your gift today, no matter the size, will bring them home.
We are open Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM (EST) and the First Saturday of each month from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM unless it coincides with a national holiday.
