La Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, the Home for the Relief of Suffering, stands as a brilliant testimony to Padre Pio’s love, charity and fervent concern for the welfare of others. It opened on May 5, 1956, with thousands in attendance, including Padre Pio Prayer Groups from all over the world, as he celebrated Holy Mass on the hospital’s steps.
His dream to make San Giovanni Rotondo a hospital city had come true, and La Casa continues to be known as one of the best hospitals in Italy.
The PPFOA assists the hospital in many ways. Some of our projects include the purchase of much needed medical equipment, updated technology, mechanized hospital beds, along with supporting programs for hospitalized children and those with chronic diseases. Your assistance to continue these programs is always welcomed and deeply appreciated.
